March Health and Fitness Goals

March Health and Fitness Goals

Here we are in the third month of the year. My muscles are used to working out and I am not as sore as I once was. Speaking of muscles, my muscles are starting to come in. My leg muscles are popping and I’m starting to look toned. If I keep up the work, I’ll be ready for spring/summertime soon! Now that I am blogging, I have changed my workout routine. I used to work out for an hour and a half, now I work out for 40 minutes to an hour. I run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and weight train on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This not only gives me time to blog but I also get home at a decent hour.

My goal for last month was to run three miles and I accomplished that. It’s one of my major fitness achievements. When I started running in the beginning of the year, I couldn’t even get through two miles without dying. Now I can run for 10-13 minutes without getting tired. My ultimate goal is to run non-stop for 30 minutes.

I still have a love/hate relationship with meal prepping. One thing that I am working on is cutting my meal prep time in half. I am starting to realize that you don’t have to cook super fancy meals in order to eat healthily. It’s all about keeping it simple. My diet now consists of Turkey, meat, fish, and veggies. I don’t count calories or my protein intake, but I always make sure that I incorporate veggies, grains, and protein in every meal.

Here are some other things I am working on this month.

Lower Grocery Bill - Let’s be honest, eating healthy is not cheap at all. Lately, I’ve been spending about $60 to $85 dollars at the grocery store and I would like to keep my grocery bill in that price range.

Focus On Core - My core strength is getting better. I can now do bow pose without wobbling which is a major accomplishment because I could never do bow pose without my tailbone hating me. I’ve started to incorporate a 30-minute core workout to my leg and arm days so that I can really whip my core into shape.

Do More Yoga - After getting tired of my old yoga mat, I decided to give in and buy a Manduka yoga mat. I have to say that I absolutely love it. I would like to incorporate more yoga into my fitness routine. I also heard that yoga is a great way for runners to improve stamina and muscle aches.

How’s your fitness journey going?
