February Fitness Goals

I cannot believe January is over! It is crazy how time files. I am proud to say that I have survived my first month of working out. January has really been a game changer for me. My health has improved in such a little time. I feel healthier, my stress levels are down and I have more energy than I have had before. The focus of January was all about building endurance. I created a workout schedule that works around my time. I work out five days out the week for an hour. If I can’t workout five days out the week, I’ll try to do three days out the week.

My eating habits have gotten better. I have my sweet tooth under control (I still cannot say no to donuts) and every time I crave something sweet, I will reach for fruit. I have also started meal prepping. While slaving in the kitchen all Sunday afternoon is something that I absolutely hate doing, I am thankful for not having to cook once I get home from working out.

My focus for this month is staying consistent. I find that scheduling/planning my weeks out, helps me stay on track. Here are some other things that I am working on this month.

Run 5K - I can run 2 miles with a 1-minute break in between. My goal for this month is to start running 5K which is 3.1 miles. I recently bought my first pair of running shoes so I am super excited to start working on this goal.

Continue eating healthy - Once I get over complaining about spending 2 hours in the kitchen meal prepping, eating healthy is not bad at all. My diet consists of salmon, chicken, turkey and a good amount of veggies and fruit. I get tired of eating the same thing over and over again so I would like to find some new recipes and spice up my diet.

Focus on upper body strength - My favorite body part to workout is the lower body. It is also the easiest for me because I have more strength in my lower body than I do in my upper body. This month I really want to focus on my upper body strength because it is just as important as the lower body especially when it comes to running. Plus having a defined stomach would be pretty awesome.

Drink more water - One of my resolutions for this year was to drink more water and I’ve been really slacking. My goal is to drink 8 glasses a day. I’ve actually found an app called WaterMinder that helps you track your water intake and it reminds you to drink water throughout the day.
