Happy New Year! 2016 has been a year filled with ups and downs. I spent the first half of 2016 stressed out and riddled with anxiety. By the second half of 2016, all the good habits that I developed in 2014 and 2015 were out of the door. While I am not big on creating resolutions for the New Year, this year I decided to change it up and do something different. Here’s what I'm going to work on in 2017:
ONE // Budgeting
My main focus for 2017 is to learn how to budget. Putting myself on a budget is something that I’ve been trying to do since my early 20’s. Ever since I’ve started my new job, I find myself spending more because I am making more. My favorite thing to buy is makeup. I love buying makeup but lately, I've been buying makeup that I want instead of buying makeup that I need. Yes, that Kat Von D lipstick and Too Faced palette are gorgeous but I have lipsticks and eyeshadow palettes that have never been used.
TWO // Working out
Yes, working out is one of the most cliche NYE resolutions but you can’t knock a girl for trying. I don’t have an active job and I spend a good percentage of my time in front of a computer and talking on the phone. One cool thing about my job’s building is that it has a gym in it and the membership is $30 for three months. When I used to work out I was a cardio queen and I loved yoga. I would even work out two times a day! My goal is to work out five days out of the week for an hour.
THREE // Read more
Ever since I bought my Kindle, I’ve been on a book buying binge. I love the fact that I can carry thousands of books on one little device. I would like to step my reading game up by reading two books a month instead of one book a month.
FOUR // Meditate
I started meditating back in 2014 when I was battling depression. Meditation not only helped me with my anxiety and depression but I found myself more focused once I finished meditating. Developing a meditation practice is definitely something I want to start and continue doing.
What are your NYE Resolutions?
